I had a follow-up interview today with the company that contacted me right after I got off. It seems that they've decided that if they do hire me, it will be to work on their original title rather than on one of the ports. Of course it's not much of an original title, because it's a movie game.

Technically it sounds fairly interesting, although not as interesting as what I would have been working on if I hadn't gotten laid off. Creatively though it doesn't really seem like much.

Blizzard got back to me and said that they don't have any programming positions open at the momment. I wonder if there are any companies in SoCal working on projects that I would think were interesting. It's depressing to have been working on games that people would actually recognize, and now it seems be relegated to working on stuff that most people will never have heard of.
