I'm at chapter *spoiler* and this is the first point where there's actually been any music where i said "hey, i kind of like that."

Also encountered the first unambiguously aligned Silver Haired Pretty Boy (as opposed to silver haired annoying boy of course =)

Meanwhile Cid seems to be becoming a lot less ambiguous about his goals.

I really don't get the Sentinel job. It's got a counter-attack ability, but it only ever seems to counter the person you targeted when you selected the ability, not everyone who's attacked you. Maybe that would have made the job too powerful, but only hitting the one guy once makes the role rather useless. It also kind of contradicts the tutorial "help" you're given about the class. The only half decent use i've figured out for it so far is if both people are heavily damaged you can switch to Sentinel/Medic and hopefully the Sentinel can draw all the attacks until the Medic has finished healing you both.

I do like the way Snow can kick people while they're down while they're 20 feet in the air though :)

(Oh, and a side note, has anyone else lost a character during battle? Not died, just lost. During the boss fight using Lightning and two other people (Saze and Vanille maybe?) when you get knocked down a pit halfway through, all of the sudden i noticed Lightning wasn't there anymore. I thought she'd done at least one set of actions since we fell down the pit, though i couldn't swear to it, and she still had a full health bar. She just wasn't anywhere to be seen and didn't seem to be doing anything. Maybe she was behind the enemy where i couldn't see her and didn't have any good actions she could do? But i'm pretty sure she was set to Commando at the time.)

Edit: Damn it! Getting back to another character you haven't used in awhile and getting to spend the tons of CP that you've built up is one of the most fun parts of this game! Why didn't they let me do that with Fang? :(

I really need to catch up with you. I'm... probably toward the end of chapter 5. Or at least maybe about halfway through? I've met Cid once, so far, and no unambiguously aligned silver-haired pretty boy, alas.

Unless the chapter number is, like... 8.5 or something, wouldn't it make more sense to tell us the chapter and then cut the rest. This way, I have to read it first to determine what chapter you are up to, which kinda defeats the point? Or was that a joke or something that I missed?

Fwiw, I used sentinel a LOT in the section in chpt 3 and it seemed incredibly useful. No, I don't think it necessarily dealt damage, and I'm also not sure I'd want that on my lead char or something, but I found the role pretty darn useful to assign to someone. It meant I really didn't have to worry about my lead taking damage, and the damage to the sentinal char was reduced pretty significantly. Again, though, not sure I'd care for it too much as the lead char.

Well i don't think it's really a spoiler that there's a character named Cid or that there's a Silver Haired Pretty Boy in a Final Fantasy game :)

Someone might consider it a spoiler if i told them exactly _when_ Cid or the SHPB showed up, so it was kind of a joke that the chapter number could be a spoiler, but the rest of it wasn't :)

Having just gotten a sen back again :-P, I can totally see it's usefulness. He can absorb attacks while buffs/debuffs are being setup, for example. Now, probably not necessarily worth it on suckos, but I can still see it being useful. Perhaps more so on single heavy targets - which I agree does contradict what the help said, it's true.

Yeah, it definitely seems useful when dealing with a single really tough enemy, or a group of moderately tough enemies so you can buff/debuff, or desperately try to heal :)

It only seems totally useless for the usage recommended by the help, counter-attacks against a large number of enemies :)
