Most of the right side of the LCD screen is now filled up with blue goo in that traditional "cracked LCD" pattern, and only the top half of the left side still shows anything. So i can tell which audiobook is playing (if i know what's on there anyways so i can recognize the first six or eight characters, but that's not usually a problem) but not which file, or how far through i am, or what the volume is (though that last can obviously be figured out by experimentation.)
So it still works just fine, but it's kinda inconvenient now. I'm not sure if i should go out looking for another $30 mp3 player or not. For one thing, i'm not sure if the old version of the Audible software (which i need to use for, er, technical reasons =) will interact with the new Audible server correctly to unregister the old player, or if it will be able to recognize and register a newer mp3 player at all.
In other news,
I can't remember if there was any direct evidence for this or not (i certainly don't remember shifting, more's the pity) but i knew it was the case in the dream. We seemed to be somewhere near where i grew up, and were visiting or negotiating with some werewolves who i think were part of the pack, but were kind of antagonistic to the leader and everyone else who wasn't in their own clique. They had a "sword" that was very important to them for some reason. And it was made out of foam, just like a boffer =P I picked it up to take a look at it and noticed that the foam had actually started to crack along the base, and when i tried bending it a little it broke off a little more. I put the sword back without saying anything since i thought if i pointed it out they might get pissed and/or accuse me of breaking it (even more than i actually did =) and go into a rage, which of course is a very bad thing when dealing with antagonistic werewolves. So we just left and were heading back to... wherever our base was i guess, when i got woken up.
That's actually quite a lot of detail for one of my dreams :)
