Looks like i'm going to be driving up to BayCon next week. That's not actually entirely due to laziness this time. I was originally going to look at plane tickets last month, but i ended up devoting 100% of my spare cash to the Roth IRA thing. So by the time i was able to check this month the "cheap" flight, through JetBlue, was $150, but that involved leaving at 7am. (Didn't even get around to looking at the returning times.) A flight with reasonable times came out to $180. And that's not counting the cab fare to and from the airport at both ends. Given an average price of $2.50 a gallon it looks like i can make the round trip by car for less than $90. Of course i may or may not have to pay for parking there, but at worst that shouldn't be any more than the cab fare for the alternative. Another advantage is that having my car there would give me a convenient place to crash when i get tired, which my be a pretty significant advantage since i don't actually have a room yet :)
It's been a couple months now since my car has exhibited any issues, so hopefully it will be up for it.
Also, it turns out that the theme this year is Steampunk! I should dust off my steampunk pirate costume. I wonder if there's any simple ways that i could improve it a bit?
