The political groundhog saw its shadow, and we get 8-12 more weeks of primaries

You may be put off by it, but let me assure you, those of us in the states that still have their primaries coming up -- and are *always* ignored, because the nominee has already been decided by the time May rolls around -- are welcoming it.

No one campaigns for national office here in North Carolina. 00, 04, none of the presidential candidates came by, except the asshole in chief to stump for some Rethug crony or other. The Rethugs don't come, because they think NC is a safe red state; the Dems don't come, because they think it's a hopeless red state. Fuck that noise. NC went about 52/48 for Bush in 04. Just imagine if anyone actually campaigned here.

Honestly, I'd just as soon have Obama win (not just because I like him better, but also because there's some chance McCain might actually beat Hillary *twitch*), and then we can maybe just fix the whole damn broken primary system some other year (not that I'm holding my breath). But I suppose it'll be a nice change of pace.

This year's election is already weird and we're not even to the traditionally exciting part!
