It's that E3 time of year again. I'm not excited about it this year as in previous years because of all the shake-ups in the structure of the event(s), but there's still been a fair amount of news generated. My favorite place for getting such news is of course GamesAreFun but there's also the usual news feeds at IGN, GameSPot, 1Up, etc.

The PS3 price has dropped $100 and there's a new version of the PSP coming out (yeah, big whoop) there's news about Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros, Metroid Prime 3 and Mario Kart Wii, and is coming out with all kinds of Wii controller attachments, but most of Nintendo's press conference was focused on casual gamers it seems. Microsoft... probably talked about something. I'm guessing Squenix's presentation is today but i'm not really sure.

I find I'm not very invested in this year's E3 just because I'm still playing the wait-and-see game with next gen, and of course the conferences are all about next-gen strategery. I still enjoy all the pretty pictures, though.

Oh, and I'm increasingly convinced of the disturbing fact that if I do end up with a PS3 at some point, Little Big Planet could consume my life.

Isn't that kind of a mashup of Sims and Miis and Second Life? I haven't seen a lot about it so far but what little i've seen hasn't impressed me much. Maybe i've been seeing different stuff than you though.

What? No, no, you must be thinking os Sony Home or whatever it's called, where you have your semi-realistic avatars and make your own apartment and have online gaming lobbies and stuff? That's something completely different.

Little Big Planet is sort of a 2.5-D platformer with incredible physics and an insanely detailed editor engine that lets you create your own objects and levels. You can find write-ups and videos by searching the various gaming sites. It looks totally awesome.
