To quote from a recent comment i just made:

"WTF? When did this sudden pop-in window for making comments start happening? And why is it so incredibly lagged? If i type at a reasonably fast rate i can get it to keep typing for a bouta second afet i storp. WHich means that i make all kinds of tpyoos cuase i'm used to going back and correcting as i type swhich is impossible ifg you can't see what you just typ4ed =P"

Two days ago. It only appears in S1 style pages. You can get around it either by not allowing JavaScript or by opening the reply to in a different tab or window.

It generally is faster, although has fewer options. I'm not sure why you're experiencing slowness. The general complaint is the fewer options, but most people do find it faster.

You can click on more options to go to the normal comment page.

I've noticed that the slow things happens a lot with a certainy type of typing in a weird window thing. I've never figured out what the common factor is, it's just annoying when it happens.

It's happened almost every time i've made a comment in LJ with the new system. It's not happening with this window which is actually the first time it's been behaving. Except that even though there's no real lag, ie i can't type fast enough to make it get a second or so behind, it still seems slow and clunky and annoying in a way that i can't really quantify.

Weird. Understandably annoying. Sorry I have no clue.

Anyhow, a lot of people don't like it, and I'm hoping they'll add an option to disable it and let those who want to only use the normal comment page. I have mixed feelings. It has several advantages, such as allowing you to see the whole thread while replying, and if you start replying to the wrong comment on the page, you can click on the right comment, and it'll move everything you wrote to the other location, which is just kind of cool.

On the other hand, I don't like the limited options.

I do hope they give the option to disable. I think they will given that doing so fits with general LJ philosophy and past similar decisions they've made and there's a fairly large lobby for them to do so. Until then, I hope some of the ways around it help you.
