Star Wars geekage

Since they're fairly fresh in my mind, i just thought i'd say how _i_ feel Episodes I & II could have been improved:

Oh, and finally, _please_ cut down on the reuse of places and names. Yoda and Obi-wan being in the movies makes sense. Tatoine, R2-D2, C-3PO, Lars and Beru, Jabba and Chewbacca do _not_. I was ammused by someone's comment that "Tatoine is the first place they'll look, so we'll just hide him there after they look," but it's still inexcusably stupid.

I vaguely wonder why they decided on Naboo rather than Alderan. Hiding Leia on the planet her mother was from would be pretty stupid but that didn't stop them with Tatoine. We didn't actually get to see any of it in the original trilogy so it would have been interesting to get more background on Leia. Of course maybe he didn't want us getting too depressed about the fact it was all going to get blown up anyways. Or perhaps he didn't want people to start cheering when Alderan gets blown up in Episode 4 and yelling "Take that JarJar!"

More Star Wars geeking

While looking for scripts so i could find out exactly what Yoda said about Sith Lords i found the "78 reasons to hate Star Wars Episode 1" page. Obviously it focuses a bit more on the details than i did, but it is amusing. Linked to it is also 64 reasons to hate Episode 2, 12 nitpicks with Episode 4, 8 Nitpicks with episode 5, and 17 nitpicks with episode 6. I haven't actually looked at those pages yet though so i don't know if they're as good.

However this "50 Reasons why Return of the Jedi Sucks" page (from 2000) is also fairly amusing, especially since when looking back at it some of the problems with Episode 1 were rather ominously foretold.

Oh, and after reading the list i agree with the bit about "why do the battle droids talk to each other?" and the bit about how whenever some major piece of equipment fails they never have what they need to repair it, but if they need some little device to overcome a personal challenge they just _happen_ to have an underwater breather or a grappling hook gun or whatever.

I went by DVDPlanet last friday and found that they were having a sale on all used anime, $5 per DVD. The selection was very random so i went through and mostly grabbed the first couple disks of anything that looked interesting which i haven't seen before:
