Went to hang out with Morna for awhile on Friday. On the way home i stopped by Best Buy and picked up a few DVDs including Babylon 5: Season 4 (the reason i went there in the first place, it's all B5s fault!)

There were a few other DVDs i was thinking of getting, but i couldn't remember if i had them already or not, and i'd forgotten to check my shelves before i left home. So of course when i got home i checked the shelves and found that indeed i did not have those DVDs.

Earlier in the week i'd been anoyed that this computer doesn't have a spreadsheet program, which would have been really usefull when i was making lists of companies to apply to. I tried downloading OpenOffice, but it died partway through (OpenOffice is a gigantic 60+ meg download. Gigantic when you're connected via modem at least)

I gave up and did all the sorting by hand (very annoying) and tried downloading OpenOffice Thursday night but again it died about halfway through. So i tried again last night and it finally succeeded. It probably helped that it was just a 3 hour download instead of the 6 it had predicted earlier since i wasn't doing anything else on the net. Watched the Martian Successor Nadesico movie and the animated Return of the King movies while waiting for it to finish.

So today i started cataloging all my DVDs. Took a break for awhile to talk to my ashke and to go to the village and have some dinner. I think i've finished up the list now. It should have every DVD i own AND that's in my apartment. (Have a few loaned out to my ashke)

I have 190 DVD "items." A boxed set counts as an item (but if the show has multiple boxes, such as B5 and Stargate, each box counts as an item.) Series that i have as individual DVDs (such as Escaflowne and Nadesico) are listed as one item, such as Nadesico: 1-6.

I have 367 disks. Most of the "extra" is because of series and other box sets with multiple disks in them. However some are due to a lot of movies with an extra bonus disk. (184 anime disks, 100 movie disks, and 83 tv series disks)

One think i still need to figure out though is where to list movies i want to get. Listing them on the same spreadsheet will make it easier to move them to the main list once i buy them, but it will make it slightly more difficult to sort the list and total up number of disks and such. Making it a seperate doc would make it easier to print a list of what i wanted to get before going to the store. However if i only print up the one part, if i go to the store and see a DVD i want that isn't on the "get it" list, i won't know for sure if i already have it or not.

Despite having spent quite a lot of time today making the list, that was probably the easiest one. I also want to catalog all my books, music, and video games. The music and video games aren't as well organized as the DVDs are, and the books aren't as well organized and there are a hell of a lot more of them.

Was up till 5ish last night, and got up about 1pm. After becoming awake enough for coherent thought, i spent the first hour cataloging books off the shelves in my bedroom. I got through _most_ of the hardbacks, which amounted to about 60. I don't really like paperbacks, so i only get those if it's a book i really want, or it's cheap through the SFBC, or i forget to respond to the SFBC in time and they send me the featured selections i don't want =P

Decided to go to costco to look for lunch and get some grocery type food at 4. I don't know if it's for short term or not, but they've gotten rid of their pretzels and have churros instead =/ (Which i think counts as points for my theory that the best way to describe churros to someone who doesn't know what they are is as straight, fried, cinamon pretzels :)

Went inside after having breakfast/lunch and looked at the computers first as usual. They've got a pretty good Compaq for $899. Only problems being A: I think it's Compaq i'm annoyed at because of their stupid commercials, and B: I shouldn't be buying a new computer now regardless of how cheap it is. As soon as i accept a job offer i can do that, but not before.

I then went to the DVD section second, also as usual, and was annoyed to find that they had almost half a table filled with B5 boxed sets! I didn't dig through the pile, but up front that had at least seaons two, three, and _four_! I bought Season 4 on friday for about $80, and Costco had if for about $65 =P I've seen Stargate boxed sets at Costco before, but i think this is the first time i've seen B5.

So after that actually went and bought some food. Got bread and cheese and tostitos and hot dog buns. Then i got to the frozen/refrigerated section, and found that they were out of the jumbo hot dogs i wanted to try, so went and but the hot dog buns back. Got some yogurt, and then i decided to be silly and get a box of six small frozen steaks for $12. Then i decided to be really silly and get a thing of chocolate chip cookie dough :)

When i got in line at the register, i noticed the person in line of me had one of the packs of Monster energy drink, which i'd decided not to get. However when he got to the front of the line the cashier told him that it had a $5 mail in rebate. Would have gotten a pack if i'd known that, but decided it wasn't worth running back to get one even though the cashier offered to ring it up, especially since i frequently forget to send in such small rebates anyways. I did however find that the tostitos, which i happened to have gotten two bags of, had a two for one sale going on! I complained that no one ever tells me about these things, and she said that they'd just given them those cupons to have at the cashier this week, which i don't know was supposed to make me feel better or what.
