Random note
A boxed set of Evangelion should _not_ be called "Evangelion: Perfect Collection" unless it also has the Evangelion movies along with it.

Are they not planing on making one of those once the movies are finally realeased in the US? Or will that be the "Evangelion: Really Perfect This Time We Mean It Collection"?

Anyone know if Slayers is any good? They had a boxed set of that at Fry's too.

I saw some of slayers at an anime club here in the valley.
I liked it at least. Sorta like Dirty Pair only less
sci-fi, less 80s, more modern animeesque, a bit sillier
oh, no dirty card or geneticly enhanced pets...

ok it's really not much at all like Dirty Pair but I did
like it.

Have you looked for fansites on any of the anime you've asked about? Slayers is mad popular, so there are probably a ton of them.

Asking your friends' opinions is all well and good, but sometimes a fansite (especially one with plot summaries and character info) is more useful.

From what I've heard about Slayers, I'll pass. I think Ben's seen some, though, and maybe he liked it. Dunno.

A little bit, but not too much. There are people out there who would recomend things like Urotsuki Doji *gag*

I trust my friends more than i trust random people on the web =)

Sure, but a fan site might have episode synopses, plot summaries, character info ... and that would let you know whether it's the kind of thing you might like. Me, I can't really stand romantic comedy (heavy on the sight gags), so I'll pass.

I'm not sure how you got from 'fan sites that might have plot summary' to there being 'people who recommend urotsukidouji.' It's a true statement, but geez.
