Things fall apart, the center cannot hold
Spent a lot of this afternoon downloading a bunch of video game podcasts, because it's been way too long since i listened to any and i feel like i'm getting out of touch with what's going on in the video game industry, which is kind of depressing for a self-professed video game geek.

Of course that also included downloading the last couple episodes for several now-defunct podcasts, including the ones from the now defunct 1UP, which is also kind depressing.

And then once i was in a melancholy mood about favorite things that have died, i went and started checking old webcomics to see if any of them had decided to magically resurrect themselves since the last time i checked. (Spoilers: No)

I have i mentioned before that i hate change? =P

I should look into some of the newer webcomics and podcasts so at least it's not just a steady decay of the things i like with nothing to replace them.

You know several ex-1Up people are still on the revived Retronauts podcast, right? Also there's a Retro magazine being kickstartered (unless it finished recently) with several 1Up writers on the roster along with other cool folks, if you're interested in that as well. Of course, neither of those will be talking a lot about the *current* game industry...

And hey, The GIA exists again, so sometimes old favorites really do come back! I haven't been following them as much as I did back in the day, but some good writing definitely shows up there. Between it and USGamer, the set of venues for the kind of game articles I'm interested in actually isn't doing too bad these days - certainly a lot better than things were looking when 1Up was shutting down.
