The last week has sucked. Nothing bad has happened, i haven't been sick, and i haven't been depressed. (Well, not seriously anyways, just the usual short moments of occasionally thinking about shelleycat.) It's just been a general sense of tiredness and malaise. Like there's something wrong with my life but i don't know what and i don't know what to do to fix it and even if i did i wouldn't have the energy to do so.

I know the weather is always the same in So Cal, and you don't really notice the shortening of days, but - could it be that? It's September, which I think even in the US means "back to school" and even though it's been years since you were in school, you might still associate this time of year with those feelings you have as a kid when your freedom is brutally curtailed by a new school year?

That might be totally off, but here in Sweden there's definitely a feeling of days growing shorter and colder and also holidays are over and work is starting and there are no more days off or BBQs or fireworks. (Of course, you guys have Halloween and Thanksgiving, so your fall is actually less bleak than ours, where nothing fun happens until Christmas.)

No matter the cause, I hope you feel better soon!

Thank you! :)

I certainly do get kind of sad when it starts getting darker earlier, i don't think it's the in seasonal affective disorder way, just the practical "i can't go out and do fun stuff in daylight after work" kind of way. But we haven't actually hit that point yet, though we will be soon. (Sunset today is at 6:45, which certainly is nothing like the 8:00 a couple months ago, but isn't too bad. What's bad is when DST ends and it starts setting at 5. And presumably this is the point where you tell me how lucky i am ;)

I have no idea about the "back to school" association though, i never considered that possibility.
