I was a little peeved yesterday when people were able to get Nexus 7s from GameStop and possibly other stores but the one i'd ordered directly from Google hadn't even shipped yet =P Then around 2am this morning i got an email from Google saying they sent it out. I'm kinda hoping that means they actually sent it out sometime during the day on friday, or does UPS do 2am pickups if you're a big enough customer? Of course UPS doesn't do sunday deliveries, so even if it did go out yesterday the earliest i'll get to see it is probably monday.

Still though, Google you really need to work on how you handle deliveries. For hot items Amazon can manage "day of release" delivery. Now i realize that you're not in direct competition with Amazon, but... oh wait, you _are_ in direct competition. But seriously, shipping out the devices people pre-order directly from you a day or two early can't be that big a challenge. Amazon presumably has to work out deals and assurances with the people who actually own the stuff they sell, while you're the (co-)owner of the device in question, you get to determine when it ships and when it goes on sale in stores. So please try to do it right next time?

My conjecture, based on shipping notifications and tracking, is that both Google and Amazon consider something "shipped" when they've notified the shipping companies that there's something to pick up. I got a Nexus 7 notification as well, which mentioned that it might not be in the tracking system yet.

Still, I should have it soon...

Well if that's the case, then judging by the total lack of tracking information on mine UPS isn't even going to pick it up until monday =P

Mine seems to be in the same state. Still, I should get it next week.

Some of my co-workers have complained that they may be paying too much for shipping: The "from" and "to" addresses are both 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, which seems like it shouldn't be that expensive.

I had mine shipped to my house, though.
