Yay! Stuff!
Went by Costco on the way home and spent $280. Got a $185 printer/scanner/this/and/thatter, a $45 paper shredder, a $13 box of frozen cheezeburgers, and a $10 box of frozen cookie dough. ...okay, that 'z" was totally accidental, but i think i have to leave it that way :) I really should have gotten the cream puffs instead of the frozen cookie dough, but thats what tends to happen when i'm allowed to shop unsupervised :)

I ended up deciding to get the Photosmart instead of the OfficeJet mostly because it was somewhat higher rated by Consumer Reports, coraa had good things to say about the line, and it was on a fairly significant sale. Usually i try to be better about judging things by actual cost rather than perceived savings, but in this case CR pretty much said in their review that they would have rated the Photosmart higher except that it had extra utility that most people didn't really need and was priced relatively high. I was pretty sure i was going to go with it when i got to Costco, but when i got there i did a final check of the features of both printers, and upon doing so i was reminded of something i'd forgotten while going over the reviews. The Photosmart _also_ has a CD/DVD burner, which is probably one of the features not needed by most people that CR was talking about, however in my case my computer's CD/DVD burner is busted, so it will actually be useful for me! :)

Now as soon as my cat moves off my lap i will make some dinner and then assemble the printer and try scanning some stuff :)

I have had very good luck with the Photosmart multifunction! The only thing I don't care for is the fact that it bleats at you to change the ink long before you actually need to change the ink, but since you can just press the OK button to print anyway, that's a fairly minor fault. :)

That sounds like the printer at work! Except you don't actually have to hit "OK," you can just sit there and wait for the "low on ink/toner/whatever" warning message to go away on its own :)
