Last gasp
Went into work early today and got home around 4:30, and according to the weather report today was supposed to be the last day of good weather for the week, and given that it's late october it could easily be the last day of good weather for several months. It was supposedly mid to high 80s in the middle of the day, and felt like it was maybe still mid 70s when i headed out at 4:45.

Did about 11.5 miles and got home at 6:30.

I generally agree with the people who think things like the Open Source Boob Project are potentially a bad idea. Which definitely makes it seem a little unfair when cute girls go around wearing t-shirts that say things like "Kiss Me" on them =P (Possibly with some kind of subscript beneath, though not that i could tell while rollerblading past.) Although in the grand scheme of things i guess that's still not quite as frustrating as cute girls wearing "I <3 Geeks" t-shirts :)

I can't figure out how to interpret this. Are you complaining that the women are teases?
Ambermaggiedacatt on October 27th, 2009 02:51 am (UTC)
And if so, how do you know they are teases? :P

I don't know, but i expect that most girls wearing such t-shirts don't want to be randomly propositioned by people walking by. And i'm sure if i asked every single girl i saw wearing such a shirt if i could kiss her that i would offend people a lot more often than i would get a positive response, which would make me feel like crap.

I think he's just saying that, to us literal-minded types, it's frustrating for people to express a sentiment so clearly when they almost certainly don't mean it and it would be impolite to try and take them up on it. It'd be equally annoying for any gender/message (e.g. a guy wearing a shirt saying "Steal My Wallet" or something like that.)

I do think donaithnen is a bit off base about the I <3 Geeks shirts, though. I Heart Geeks can be perfectly true without meaning "I Heart Every Single Geek Ever." Nor, for that matter, does "<3" necessarily translate to "eros."

Yeah, what you said mostly :)

And i agree that the "i heart geeks" shirt can be true without actually implying anything of the nature that a "kiss me" shirt does. It.... states less but implies the possibility of more? A cute girl with a "kiss me" shirt might be fun to kiss but may not be good SO potential. A cute girl with a "i heart geeks" shirt meets a lot more of the criteria for good SO potential. But 99% of the time it's potential that i'm never going to get the chance to examine, me being me and all :)

me being me and all :)

Oh, for heavens' sake, give yourself some credit. It might be potential that you'll never allow yourself the chance to examine, but that's an entirely different thing. It's a touch silly to be frustrated by the simple existence of people who are good SO material.

I think "teases" is a bit harsh. Such things usually make me think something along the lines of "i wish," but i know that most girls wearing something like that don't actually want random guys coming up and asking if they can kiss them. Which is a perfectly reasonable attitude to have, wearing a t-shirt with words on it shouldn't be taken as some kind of contractual obligation, but it is frustrating in the "i wish i could but i can't" sense.

The last of the good weather for months?!? You live in Southern California!!! Gah!

But gotta admit how much I love folk like you who flee the beach after Labor Day leaving it all for me!
DonAithnendonaithnen on October 27th, 2009 03:36 am (UTC)
The last of the good rollerblading weather =P I wouldn't say i flee the beach, but now days i don't have anyone else to do stuff at the beach with (or at least none of the local people i know propose cool stuff to do at the beach) so rollerblading is the only reason i get out there.

I keep telling myself i ought to relearn how to rollerblade in cooler temperatures again, but so far i haven't managed to motivate myself to do it =P
