CSI 24
Dumb idea for the afternoon that some of us around the office came up with, "CSI 24."

It's like CSI, but everything take as much time as it would take in real life, with cuts between scenes like they do in 24. (I haven't actually seen any 24, but i've been given the impression that's how it works.)

We have a scene where we watch some police officers filling out paperwork for several minutes [scene cut] now we spend several minutes watching the device kirinn's company makes scanning a crime scene at the regular rate of a couple hours(?) per room while the cops are out getting coffee [scene cut] now we spend several minutes watching a lab technician sitting around, tapping their fingers on the desk, waiting for the DNA results that they requested several days ago, etc.

An actual scan (like what they showed on the episode) only takes like 10 minutes, plus maybe another 10 for two sets of photos (which they didn't show). Of course, the complete data they showed afterwards might have involved half a dozen scans, so that could be a couple hours total, though you have to push a button / move the scanner periodically so not everyone could be out for doughnuts. They also skim over the part where I spent a day back in the lab aligning, assembling, and editing the model. Still, they were showing our actual data, so far as CSI goes (so I hear; I haven't watched any other episodes) it was fairly realistic!
