I was going to say "I know lolspeak just well enough to get this", but that's not really the right way to put it. To be more clear, I decided to say "I'm sufficiently familiar with lolspeak to recognize this as a joke about lolspeak's highly simplified vocabulary, which typically reduces all variations on a concept to a single (very short) word: the excess involved in that simplification is made comically apparent when it is applied to a source text based on a wide variety of related terms", but the mere existence of this sentence negated the humor of the original and I threw it away. So then I decided to just comment on how I recognized the source from the first four words, but that sounded like bragging (and slightly hollow bragging, given that I missed your "fifteen birds" reference earlier). In the end, I decided not to post a comment at all.

Oops.

Wow, you put a lot more thought into the comment than i did into the original post :)

The fact that it was originally a riddle from Hobbit was actually entirely accidental. I made a comment about "eating time" which someone else transformed into "nom nom nom time" and someone else gave me the idea of a "lolsphinx", and this was the only riddle i could think of that had "time" as the answer. Of course that's not too surprising given that about half of the riddle database in my head is made up of the ones from the Hobbit :)

On Googling "lolsphinx", I didn't expect to find anything. This is wonderful.
