I failed to finish the longish post i was working on last night, and i'm sleep-depped and silly, so this is what i came up with instead :)

Remember! Finish your own work before checking your neighbors' answers! ;)

Poll #1245182 You've just found fifteen birds

Where are they?

What is unusual about these birds?

What shall you do if you catch them?

What is the most likely reason that they will remain uncaught?

Man, I have no idea why my brain went there...

Heh, the answers have been very amusing from everyone so far :) I think the only person even remotely likely to make it through the (obviously intended) obscurity at this point and get the "expected" answers is steuard :)

Huh, I don't even see answers from Stu. Maybe a caching issue.

No, he hasn't answered yet. I'm just figuring that if several people of the same age and same general interests as me haven't gotten the joke part yet, steuard's the only one left who's particularly likely to break the pattern, unless i make it a little more obvious :)

Oh heavens. How did I not make that connection? Here's the answer you're looking for:

1. They're in five fir trees.
2. They have no wings.
3. Er, various cooking and eating... let me check... "Roast 'em alive, or stew them in a pot; fry them, boil them and eat them hot?"
4. We seem to have left the song; giant eagles, I guess.

This is a clear sign that it's been too long since I reread The Hobbit.

In defense of my answers: It is lunchtime.
