I seem to have done something unfortunate to my back sometime during the past couple days, though i can't think what. Or at least so my back started insisting loudly this morning while i was in the shower. It's not even really the whole back, just the left shoulderblade =P

That's exactly what happened to me in spring. It wasn't that I'd done heavy lifting or anything -- just one day something went sproing and one of my shoulders hurt like blazes.

I found that applying heat to it helped enormously, so if it's a similar thing you might try that. (An easy way to get heat on a shoulder/neck problem is to get an old sock -- preferably a fairly long one, and definitely one without holes -- and filling it with rice and tying off the end. Then just microwave it for about a minute, until warm but not uncomfortably hot to the touch, and sling it over your shoulder or around your neck.)

Well i don't know if it's doing anything to the muscles, but it feels nice, thank you :)

But i notice it leaks steam when i microwave it. Does the rice need to be replaced after X number of microwavings? Or does it need to be dipped in water to recharge? Or will it just suck water out of the air or something?

I never needed to recharge mine, so I wouldn't worry about it. It may stop steaming so much, but as long as it still gets hot, it should be fine. (Mind you, I wouldn't try cooking with the rice afterwards, but I doubt you'd want to do that anyway. ;) )

Get a real bed with a nice mattress. Futon mattresses wear out and get lumpy.
