That was weird. I just had what felt like it must have been my first case of heartburn ever. Except that it happened right as/after i took a gulp of diet root beer, and it lasted for just about five seconds, which isn't really how heartburn is supposed to work as far as i know. Is there any way possible to somehow swallow a _liquid_ wrong such that it hurts as it goes down?

Hmm, i seem to be making up for my utter lack of posts for the whole rest of the week all at once :)

Snort some soda. Ooooh, mix in wasabi peas!

Absolutely.

Many years ago I had something similar happen when I was drinking 7Up. I...swallowed it wrong or something, because it hurt so much going down to the point where I actually felt like I was going to pass out.

It was very odd. I've never had that happen a second time, though.

Are you sure you didn't aspirate it? The carbonation would probably hurt like the blazes, even if it didn't obstruct your airways.

Esophageal spasm. Ouch. It's like peristalsis isn't working right. Ouch.
