*grrrrrrrrr*
trysha just showed me this article

Apparently Bush is going to temporarily transfer power to Cheney while he undergoes a medical operation. The article claims that he said he made that decision because the nation is at war.

We are not at war you fucking nimrod! Unless Congress has gone into stealth mode i think i would have heard if they'd voted to declare a state of war. Hey wait, if we're in a state of war, maybe we should treat those prisoners we captured as prisoners of war? Seeing as how we captured them during a "war" and all.

You know, if there's an ... unexpected incident ... while Bush is under the operation, Cheney will go straight to the Presidency, no questions asked.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

I haven't really gotten the impression that Cheney is that much better or worse than Bush. Less manipuable perhaps, but i'm not sure that replacing the puppet with one of the puppet masters would make that much of a difference.

And regardless of Bush signing over the Presidency temporarily, that's what would happen anyways. Kind of comes with the job description of Vice-President.

Congress hasn't declared war since 1941, but we've still been effectively at war since then. If you ask the military, they'll certainly say we are. If you ask folks in Afghanistan, they'll probably agree, if they even care. I dunno.

Since 1941? Wow that's a long war *ducks* :)

Well just because other presidents have succeeded in flouting the Constitution doesn't mean that the Shurb should be encouraged for doing the same.

There is a more pressing point here.

You probably don't have any experience with colonoscopies, right? To do a colonoscopy, the colon must be clean. This means 24 hours of drinking literally gallons disgusting salty laxatives and taking enemas. I've helped someone prep for a colonoscopy. It isn't pretty.

Let's just say that the fact that he's a "sitting" president will have a more literal meaning now.

The cramps are pretty debilitating, and the whole thing makes a person quite weak. IMO, the prep for the damn thing is far worse than the test itself. My mom and others have echoed that sentiment.

Therefore, it's not really the 15-20 minutes of the procedure we ought to be concerned about...it's the whole day before when he is pretty much incapable of calm, rational thought.

Oh, oops...upon re-reading that, I s'pose there really isn't anything to worry about...there really won't be a discernible difference, will there?

(Was that my out-loud voice?)
