Another weight post
Well it seems that barring any further excesses, i'm now permanently below 190. I'm also veeeeery close to getting below 25% fat. On the one hand, yay! On the other hand, i'm one-quarter made of fat? Eeewwww!

Oh, apparently 25% is the magical line between "average" and "obese" for men. That scale doesn't have as much diversity as the BMI one, on which i started and still remain right smack in the middle of the "overweight" category. I've got to get down to 25 to go from "overweight" to "normal". Which going from the formula my scale seems to be using ought to happen when i hit 173 lbs. If my current rate of fat loss per total weight loss continues, then i'll be at about 22% fat at that point, or about two-thirds up the "average" category.

Hmmm, but going by that same rate, i'd probably have to get down to about 153 in order to hit 17% fat, the top of the "fitness" range. Either the rate at which i lose fat is going to have to go up, or i'm not very likely to hit that benchmark. Getting to 160 is just _barely_ within the range of reasonable. 153 is probably right out.

But anyways, here are the actual numbers, and the spreadsheet is still right here.

07-05: 193.5 lbs - 50.6 lbs fat - 26.2% fat - 28.0 BMI
07-06: 190.4 lbs - 48.7 lbs fat - 25.6% fat - 27.5 BMI
07-07: 189.2 lbs - 47.9 lbs fat - 25.4% fat - 27.3 BMI
07-08: 189.8 lbs - 48.3 lbs fat - 25.5% fat - 27.4 BMI
07-09: 189.9 lbs - 48.5 lbs fat - 25.6% fat - 27.5 BMI
07-10: 188.2 lbs - 47.5 lbs fat - 25.3% fat - 27.2 BMI
07-11: 187.5 lbs - 47.0 lbs fat - 25.1% fat - 27.1 BMI
07-12: 188.3 lbs - 47.3 lbs fat - 25.2% fat - 27.2 BMI

Incidentally, re: BMI weight categorizations, risk of death is actually about the same between "Normal" and "Overweight," with "Underweight" more and "Obese" more than that in a dose-dependent fashion (BMI=50 more likely to die than BMI=40, than BMI=30, etc). So you don't actually have to worry too much about "Overweight" with respect to health (although picking up girls is another matter). :)

Ahhh, good to know, thanks. I guess my doctor was being a little overly aggressive when he was suggesting target weights. (Though this was while ago, so maybe i'm misremembering.)

But as you say, a healthy weight is not necessarily synonymous with an attractive weight :)
