Life sucks, let's go shopping  
Gods but going grocery shopping is fricking depressing now. I'm not sure which is more... sticky? memories of going shopping with her and looking at stuff together, or memories of going on my own with a list from her and trying to think of something extra to get that would surprise her or make her happy when i got home.

Then for added cosmic poetry or whatever as soon as i got out of the store it started raining.

Also, i seem to be eating way too much lately.

Also also, at some point i probably out to clean out some of... the older stuff from the fridge. I think it's starting to smell a little.

You're grieving and from the sounds of it, doing a new exercise program. Both would indicate the need to eat more. A little comfort eating is not a bad thing. Neither is upping your calorie intake to support building extra muscle.

Give yourself a month or two break. Reassess at the end of June or something. Food should be less of a concern than mental health, physical health, comfort, and kindness.

There's a kids book by Eric Carle called "The Very Hungry Caterpiller" about a caterpiller that ate a bunch of stuff on the different days of the week, including a ton of stuff on Saturday, and then turned into a butterfly. Kids' stuff. Nothing of note really.

Then a friend of mine pointed me at a website which retitled the book "Eat Until You Feel Pretty." I haven't reached for a handful of chocolate M&Ms since then without the book title coming to mind.

Some days are just like that. I agree with the other commenter, re-assess in a few months, but for now "eat until you feel pretty" is a valid animal coping strategy.
